We will be walking all over the World for these Little Hearts

Every Mile Matters!

Because every Little Heart ❤ that God puts in our path matters, we are preparing for our Fifth Annual Mile Walk for the Little Hearts at Becky's School....

This year's walk will be dedicated to raising support for the following capital projects listed below that will continue to provide opportunity for us to care for over 145 students now being nurtured on a daily basis at Becky's School. This summer of 2019 God provided the way and opportunity for Becky's School to purchase the land where the school sits and through the contributions and support from LHOA faithful partners we were able to fund $8,000 for the land purchase. The security of now owning the land enables the school to plan with long term thinking and continue to provide the love & care for even more children in Kibera, (Nairobi Kenya) which is the largest slum in Africa. With now over 145 students the school built adequate bathrooms for the teachers and students; we placed a new water drum which provides proper water supply for the school; a new sink on the premises so the children can wash their hands and sanitize properly; and we have added a third grade classroom. We now need to add a fourth grade classroom for the upcoming class that will be promoted this July(2021) and we need to update the kitchen which feeds the children two meals a day while they are in class. We also need the funds to provide for the fourth grade teacher. Each year we have been in existence, we have provided a new classroom as the school grows.
God in all of His splendor & Glory continues to put Little Hearts in our path and Becky's School remains a haven that provides daily Christian education and care for students who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity.

Becky's School provides a place for them to be safe, loved, fed two nutritious meals a day and educated by caring & qualified teachers. They are nurtured in the admonition of the Lord daily & taught about obedience to God! We are indebted to Mary & her wonderful staff at Becky's School !

We are very thankful for all of our donors that have partnered with us, allowing everything that goes on daily at Becky's School to be possible!

We are praying that those who have faithfully partnered with us will continue & that God will raise up others who will be compelled to walk alongside Little Hearts & Becky's School.

Our FIFTH Walk around the World DATE WILL BE POSTED SOON!

As in previous years we will be selling shirts commemorating the Walk. The proceeds from the shirts will go towards the new classroom, new teacher, renovated kitchen, new desks for the fourth grade students and will help with keeping Becky's School adequately educating and feeding and growing these Little Hearts in the admonition of the Lord!

As you walk your mile anytime during the weekend pray for the Little Hearts as they finish the school year & we prepare to provide for another new school year starting January 2022!

Our Story......

"Step by step, breath by breath"

Southern Living boldly states; life is EATING, laughing, loving and a place to enjoy together. Becky's School is also a place for the children to enjoy together, loving, laughing and learning! However, EATING is always a concern. Tucked in the slum of Kibera, Becky School was started by a young lady who grew up in Kibera and still lives there today. Her name is Mary. Mary went and found young children who would otherwise not get to attend school due to lack of funds. These young little hearts are being given the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.

Steve and I had given Mary money for college tuition before Becky School began. But at the time, Mary needed more than just tuition money - she needed transportation, boarding, books and food money in order to go to the University. (It is a long story as to why all of this doesn't quite make sense....BUT THE FACT that is important....is GOD WAS FAITHFUL AND HE HAD A PLAN even when I didn't have a clue as to what was going on). We just kept asking for wisdom and God provided that. When we gave Mary her tuition money I told her that I WAS NOT HER SOURCE and that GOD was. I told Mary that she had to ask GOD to give her wisdom as to how she could make this money provide for her and her family. I didn't know what I was talking about at the time other than I knew that I couldn't be viewed as Mary's source. GOD had to be her provider. Mary did something that I could never have dreamed up. She applied to start a school for the little children in Kibera. She asked if she could name the school after me. I just remember asking Steve if that would be conceited and he said, "No, I think it would be sweet." So that is how Becky School started. LITTLE HEARTS OF AFRICA started after Becky School started. Steve and I felt Little Hearts of Africa could become a way for us to come alongside Becky School and other Little Hearts (big and small) that God put in our pathway to provide the love of GOD, food, water, shelter and education.

This amazing young lady, is the little heart that God so strategically brought into my life September 2013, when I went on a mission trip to Nairobi, Africa. Clueless as I was, God had a plan. Instantly I fell in love with Mary! Never to be the same! (God actually brought 14 amazing people into my life that trip. I so love each and everyone of them!)
I say all of this, because Steve and I had the vision to start Little Hearts of Africa in 2015. It became a reality August 2015..... Almost 2 years to the date of me going to Africa. It was a long process ....as Mary and I always say, "it's step by step, breath by breath". It's a faith walk. It's going through uncharted territory for Steve and myself and our family as a whole. Of course it's step by step for Mary and the teachers on the other side in Africa too! We are all learning as we go.

Little Hearts of Africa comes alongside Becky school to help it be the best environment for these little hearts that God places in our care to learn, grow and succeed. It is exciting to see it all unfold. We provide salaries for 5 teachers; 2 meals a day for over 100 Little Hearts at this time!
One thing I know for sure, we can't do this alone! We need the guidance and wisdom of our Lord and Savior - first and foremost! None of this would've happened without Him going before us! And we need people like you that have a heart for the well being of others. Having a desire to see these little children learn, through loving and caring teachers, having their lives transformed by the power of God, so they can stand firm and be ever changed. Changed through learning and changed through a living relationship with a Holy Loving God.
