FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND ENERGY

Southern Living boldly states; life is EATING, laughing, loving and a place to enjoy together.  Becky's School is also a place for the children to enjoy together, loving, laughing and learning!  However, EATING is always a concern.  Tucked in the slum of Kibera, Becky's School is run by 2 very competent young ladies.  They love and teach young children who would otherwise not get to attend school due to the lack of funds.  These young little hearts are being given the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.

Steve and I have been providing money for almost a year this January monthly.  The money we give helps feed the children and pay for one teacher's salary.  We are paying for another teacher to go to college.  I am not saying this to brag, or get accolades, I say this to help tell a story.  A story of a vision of a young lady that grew up in the slums of Kibera.  She was also given the opportunity to go to school and learn and succeed!  Wanting to give back to her community, she started Becky's School January 2015.

This amazing young lady, is the little heart that God so strategically brought into my life September 2013, when I went on a mission trip to Nairobi, Africa.  Clueless as I was, God had a plan.  Instantly I fell in love with Mary!  Never to be the same!  (God actually brought 14 amazing people into my life that trip - so love each and everyone of them!)

I say all of this, because Steve and I had the vision to start Little Hearts of Africa in 2015.  It became a reality August 2015..... Almost 2 years to the date of me going to Africa.  It has been a long process coming....as Mary and I always say, "it's step by step, breath by breath". It's a faith walk.  It's going through uncharted territory for Steve and myself (and now our son Brett who has come aboard to help us run this non for profit).  Of course it's step by step for Mary and Carren on the other side in Africa too!  We are all learning as we go.

Little Hearts of Africa is coming along side Becky's school to help it be the best environment for these little hearts that God places in our care to learn, grow and succeed.  It is exciting to see it all unfold.

One thing I know for sure, we can't do this alone!  We need the guidance and wisdom of our Lord and Savior - first and foremost!  None of this would've happened without Him going before us!  And we need people like you that have a heart for the well being of others.  Having a desire to see these little children learn, through loving and caring teachers, having their lives transformed by the power of God, so they can stand firm and be ever changed.  Changed through learning and changed through a living relationship with a Holy Loving God.

Please take time to see how YOU can make a difference in a little heart....changing a life forever.  Thank you!

Jesus said, "Let The little Children come to me...

Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."

We are coming alongside the Little Hearts at Becky's School to help them learn how to COME UNTO THE LORD.  We are doing that through our Ministry of "LITTLE HEARTS OF AFRICA".
But this isn't about sentiment or pity on these little children in the slums of Kibera.  This is about growing them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  Feeding, clothing, educating and giving these Little Hearts of all ages a HOPE.  A HOPE that comes from a LIVING, HOLY and AWESOME God.  A HOPE that helps them stand firmly planted so they can grow and thrive in Christ.

Help us make a difference in these Children's lives.
We are currently taking donations to buy 30 students desks.  The desks cost $33 each.  We need 15 more.

We provide food for the children so that they can have 2 meals while at school each day.  And we pay for one teacher's salary. Praying we can start to do more through this new ministry.

Look for more ways to help........
coming soon!  Thank YOU!

Obedience or Independence?

"If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15)

Today during my quiet time I was reading Oswald Chambers.  This struck me...
"The Lord does not give me rules, but HE makes His standard very clear.  If my relationship to Him is that of love, I will do what He says without hesitation.  (I always seems to hesitate)  If I hesitate, it is because I love someone I have placed in competition with Him, namely, myself.  Jesus Christ will not force me to obey Him, but I must.  And as soon as I obey Him, I fulfill my spiritual destiny.  My personal life may be crowded with small, petty happenings, altogether insignificant .  But if I obey Jesus Christ in the seemingly random circumstances of life, they become pinholes through which I see the face of God.  I will discover that through my obedience thousands were blessed.  When God's redemption brings a human soul to the point of obedience, it always produces (GOD produces - not me!!!!)  If I obey Jesus Christ, the redemption of God will flow through me to the lives of other, because behind the deed of obedience is the reality of Almighty God!"

That's what I am today!  Very thankful for friends of mine that I play tennis with who cared enough about the Little Hearts in Africa to donate money to help them get desks at Becky's School.  Thank you so much!!!!!!!  I am very blessed to have such great friends in my life!

Cant wait to get this money to Mary so she can get the desks ordered....I know the children are going to be thrilled to get to have desks to to do their work on.

Thank you EVERYONE  who gave to make this happen.  We need 30.....and we have 15 at this time.

Thank you to my family....my kids and siblings who have given to help Little Hearts of Africa too!  I love that you all trust what we believe God has called us to do....come alongside Becky's School and grow these LITTLE HEARTS.....in more ways than we can imagine!

I am a wife, a mom, a sister, a daughter, a mother-in-love and a Grandma.  There is nothing more important to me than daily communion with my Lord and Savior.  My family means everything to me!  But without the Grace of God.....I am nothing!
